Best Palworld Technology to Unlock First — Early Tech Priority Guide

Palworld hands you Technology Points every time you level up, but there are far more recipes than points early on. Spending them in the wrong order leaves you broke, cold, and still punching trees. Spend them right and the first few hours feel smooth.

I unlocked the Cloth Outfit late on my first run and spent two nights losing HP to cold while my Pals watched. That one mistake cost more time than any boss fight. This guide is the order I use now.

Priority Tiers Explained

Priority Category What it covers
★★★★★ Spheres Pal Sphere, Mega Sphere. Catch more Pals.
★★★★★ Base Basics Palbox, Feed Box, Berry Plantation, bed.
★★★★★ Tools Stone Pickaxe, Stone Axe. Gather resources faster.
★★★★☆ Pal Gear Mount saddles, partner-skill harnesses.
★★★★☆ Gliders Glider for faster travel and escape.
★★★☆☆ Bow/Arrows Ranged combat and status effects.
★★★☆☆ Guns Strong but ammo-hungry; mid-game.
★★☆☆☆ Armor Useful once you leave the starting biome.
★☆☆☆☆ Decoration No gameplay value early. Skip.

Must-Have Unlocks: Levels 2–8

  1. Pal Sphere (level 2) — 1 point. You cannot catch Pals without it.
  2. Primitive Workbench (level 1) — 0 points. Already unlocked; build it first.
  3. Stone Pickaxe + Stone Axe — 1 point total. Stop punching everything.
  4. Palbox (level 2) — 1 point. Marks your base and stores extra Pals.
  5. Wooden Chest — cheap storage so you are not buried in rocks.
  6. Campfire + Shoddy Bed / Straw Pal Bed — cook food, pass the night, reduce Pal stress.
  7. Cloth Outfit (level 4) — 2 points. Survives cold nights.
  8. Logging Site + Stone Pit — automates wood and stone.
  9. Feed Box + Berry Plantation — food supply for you and your Pals.
  10. Crusher (level 8) — turns stone into Paldium Fragments.

Strong Unlocks: Levels 6–15

  • Rushoar Saddle (level 6) — first mount.
  • Foxparks’ Harness — flamethrower Partner Skill for early bosses.
  • Daedream’s Necklace — lets Daedream attack while a different Pal is out.
  • Glider — faster exploration and safe descent.
  • Crossbow (level 13) — much stronger than bows; skip the Three-Shot Bow.
  • Mega Sphere — better catch rate for tougher Pals.
  • Ranch — passive Pal Sphere / Arrow farming with Vixy.
  • Chillet’s Saddle (level 13) — if you catch the level 11 boss Chillet.

What to Skip Early

  • Guns until you have ammo production and an ore base.
  • Heavy armor until you leave the Plateau of Beginning.
  • Decorations — no gameplay benefit.
