Best Early-Game Pals in Palworld — Starter Party and Base Setup

Palworld dumps dozens of Pals in front of you within the first hour. Most are cute. A few are actually useful. The trick is catching the right ones before you waste Pal Spheres on creatures that will sit in your Palbox forever.

My first run was a mess. I caught three Lamballs because they looked harmless, then realized none of them could build, mine, or fight anything tougher than a Chikipi. This list is the roster I wish I had from the start.

Cattiva — The Best Starter Pal

Cattiva is the first Pal worth a Pal Sphere. It spawns in the starting area, is easy to catch, and covers the jobs a new base actually needs.

Work Suitability Level Why it matters
Handiwork 1 Builds and crafts at Workbenches.
Mining 1 Mines stone and ore at your Stone Pit.
Transportation 1 Moves items between storage and facilities.
Gathering 1 Harvests from Berry Plantation and Ranch.

Cattiva’s passive, Cat Helper, also increases your carry capacity by 50. That alone saves you from running back to base every three minutes early on. Catch one immediately, assign it to Handiwork and Mining, and your base will start running itself.

Daedream — Early Combat Specialist

Daedream is a Dark-type Pal that only appears at night. Look for its glowing purple head in dark forests. It is strong against Neutral-type Pals, which are everywhere near the starting zone.

Why it matters:

  • Ranged Dark attacks keep you out of melee range.
  • The Daedream’s Necklace unlock lets it attack even when a different Pal is active.
  • It farms Neutral Pals fast, which speeds up early EXP.

Catch one as soon as you see it glowing in the dark.

Foxparks — Boss Killer and Warmth Source

Foxparks is a Fire Pal that becomes a flamethrower once you unlock Foxparks’ Harness. Its Partner Skill, Huggy Fire, lets you spray flames while mounted on it, which shreds early boss HP.

It also keeps you warm at night when it is out of its Pal Sphere. That is a nice side benefit when you have not crafted the Cloth Outfit yet.

Rushoar — First Mount

Rushoar is a Ground-type Pal and one of the earliest mounts. Its saddle unlocks at level 6, which is reachable within the first couple of hours.

Mounts change the game more than most early unlocks. Rushoar lets you move faster, carry more by dragging enemies, and open up new areas before you have a glider.

Vixy — Passive Pal Sphere Factory

Vixy does not fight well and does not craft much. Put it in the Ranch with the Grazing task and it passively digs up Pal Spheres and Arrows. That removes one of the biggest early-game bottlenecks: running out of spheres while trying to catch better Pals.

Where to Find Each Pal

Pal Location Time
Cattiva Starting beach and forest zone Day/night
Daedream Dark forests, caves Night only
Foxparks Grasslands and wooded areas Day/night
Rushoar Grassy plains near the starting area Day/night
Vixy Grass plains Day/night

Quick Early Base Assignment

Use this setup once you have all five:

  • Cattiva: Stone Pit + Handiwork at Workbench
  • Daedream: Combat Pal in your party
  • Foxparks: Combat Pal for bosses, warmth at night
  • Rushoar: Mount for travel
  • Vixy: Ranch for passive Pal Sphere production
